Why Christianity is Unique!

It is fashionable to think that all religions are pretty much the same. They teach people to be good and spiritual and make the world a better place right? Wrong. There are basically four types of religion: 1. Paganism 2. Moralism 3. Spirituality 4. Improvement.

Many folks think that Christianity is basically a combination of all four. Different Christians emphasize different ones of the four, but all four are sort of bundled together into the popular form of Christianity which is, “Pray, obey the rules, make the world a better place and God will look after you.” This is not Christianity. This is a perversion of Christianity. Full Article

Why Christianity is Unique!

Why Christianity is Unique!

Instead Christianity is based on a simple, historical fact that cannot be refuted. It is called the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Over here the philosopher Peter Kreeft takes apart the various arguments against the resurrection of Christ. Christianity says, “Jesus Christ rose from the dead and that changes everything. Jesus Christ is still alive and active in the world through his church. If you believe and trust in this astounding truth, then you are called to participate in this event through faith and baptism. Through faith and baptism you enter into Jesus Christ and he enters into you. You enter into his church and become part of his body.

Your primary mission is not to attempt to please God by giving him stuff. It is not to obey all the rules and regulations to try to please him. It is not to pray more, be spiritual and so rise above this world’s problems. It is not to be a good boy or girl and try to make the world a better place.

Christians might do all those things, but that is not the core of their faith. It is the result of their faith. They do those things as the musician plays music or the athlete plays his sport. They do those things because they are talented and it gives them joy. So the Christian does these good things because he has been filled with the Spirit of the risen Jesus Christ and he does those things with joy because he wants to.

Top 3 Planned Parenthood LIES against Daleiden…

David Daleiden has been a thorn in Planned Parenthood’s side since he released the first video showing Planned Parenthood directors offering to sell fetal body parts. Daleiden’s investigation has resulted in numerous referrals for criminal prosecution. America’s largest abortion provider is working overtime to churn out lies to deflect the unwanted attention the videos have garnered. Here are the top three:

David Daleiden has been a thorn in Planned Parenthood’s side.

David Daleiden has been a thorn in Planned Parenthood’s side.

LIE #1 The videos are fake and/or “deceptively edited.”
THE TRUTH: Planned Parenthood commissioned Fusion GPS, a notably left-leaning research group, to analyze the videos. After reviewing four of Daleiden’s videos, Fusion concluded, “This analysis did not reveal widespread evidence of substantive video manipulation, but we did identify cuts, skips, missing tape, and changes in camera angle.” Another digital analysis was performed by Coalfire Systems, Inc., which found that “…the video recordings are authentic and show no evidence of manipulation or editing…The uniformity between the footage from the cameras from the two Investigators also support the evidence that the video recordings are authentic.”
LIE #2 David Daleiden is not a “real” journalist.
THE TRUTH: A California appellate court, using a definition that “is established without contradiction,” held that journalists “gather, select, and prepare, for purposes of publication to a mass audience, information about current events of interest and concern to that audience.” (See O’Grady v. Superior Court) This is exactly what Daleiden did. The first video released in July 2015 has been viewed over 3 million times—a mass audience by any standard.
LIE #3 The conversations in the videos are protected by privacy laws.
THE TRUTH: Only a handful of states prohibit the recording of conversations. Many of the discussions that took place with Planned Parenthood directors took place in California, which prohibits eavesdropping or recording “confidential communications.” A “confidential communication” entails a reasonable expectation that the conversation be confined to the parties. Daleiden’s California conversations all occurred in public spaces such as crowded restaurants and well-attended conference events. There would be no reasonable expectation of confidentiality in a conversation that was interrupted by wait staff or that would be overheard by people at an adjacent table. Under California law, communications made in public gatherings are not confidential. (See CA Penal Code § 632)

Boys and Men Rewrite the Record Books of Women’s Sports

“I have a spectacular female athlete” Brian Calhoun Track Coach. Brian has a high school freshman named Andraya Yearwood.  Andraya is a boy, but now identifies as a girl and recently competed in his first track meet with actual girls as a high school freshman. Take a minute to watch the video and the challenges will become apparent. This boy is athletic (his dad was a college football player) and the slight mustache and muscle tone indicates that he’s developing more quickly than other boys his age. Of course that wouldn’t be remarkable except for the fact that he’s now racing fifteen year-old girls.  And he’s doing really well. Supporting Article

How Sport Exposes the Unworkable Logic of Transgender Policy    At Cromwell High, Transgender Athlete Competes With Girls For First Time

This phenomenon isn’t happening just in high school sports, though. The NCAA, for example, requires men to undergo testosterone suppression treatment for one year before they are allowed to compete with women. There are no restrictions for women who wish to compete as men.

Title IX requires an equivalent number of athletic scholarships opportunities for men and women.   If men can become women, a merely good high school boy can transform himself into an All-American female athletes with a flip of the gender switch.

Don’t think the rest of the world that happens to care about medal counts in the Olympics isn’t watching either. China could make their B level male Olympians transition to women and North Korea actually would. Kim Jong Un will just giggle as, medal after medal,  he hoists the west on their own petard.

Congress Says States can Defund Planned Parenthood

Congress voted to rescind an Obama administration rule that prohibited the states from defunding Planned Parenthood. Full Article

States can defund Planned Parenthood.

States can defund Planned Parenthood.

Fifteen states have acted to defund Planned Parenthood and others who perform elective abortions in the last couple of years, reasoning that America’s largest purveyor of abortions (the organization is responsible for over one-third of a million abortions annually in recent years) doesn’t need taxpayer dollars to offer an elective procedure that most people recognize as the destruction of human life.

Public opposition notwithstanding, the Obama administration passed a “midnight rule” in December 2016 through the Department of Health and Human Services that interpreted Title X, the federal family planning program, to prohibit states from redirecting health care dollars away from groups like Planned Parenthood and toward public health agencies that outnumber the abortion behemoth 20-to-1 and (unlike Planned Parenthood) offer a wide range of preventive and holistic health care services.

Can a state exclude religious people or organizations from public benefit programs?

Like all issues before the United States Supreme Court, our case, Trinity Lutheran Church of Columbia v. Comer, will have a significant impact nationwide. But for people of faith, the stakes are even higher than normal. Full Article

When the Supreme Court hears oral argument in the case on April 19, it will confront the question whether a state can exclude religious people or organizations from neutral, secular public benefit programs.

On April 19, the United States Supreme Court will hear oral argument in Trinity Lutheran Church v. Comer. Like all cases before the High Court, this one will have a significant impact nationwide. But what would a win in Trinity Lutheran mean for you? To understand that, let me explain what the case is about.

A few years ago, four Supreme Court justices wrote an opinion in a different case that sums up the principle at stake in Trinity Lutheran:

For centuries now, people have come to this country from every corner of the world to share in the blessing of religious freedom. Our Constitution promises that they may worship in their own way, without fear of penalty or danger, and that in itself is a momentous offering. Yet our Constitution makes a commitment still more remarkable—that however those individuals worship, they will count as full and equal American citizens. A Christian, a Jew, a Muslim (and so forth)—each stands in the same relationship with her country, with her state and local communities, and with every level and body of government. So that when each person performs the duties or seeks the benefits of citizenship, she does so not as an adherent to one or another religion, but simply as an American.

When people of faith seek the benefits of citizenship, like the scrap tire grant in Missouri or any other secular benefit, they deserve to be treated not as religious, but simply as Americans. That’s what a win in Trinity Lutheran means for you.

Which Countries are, Shrinking in Size!!

Amid historic worries about population growth, people often forget that many countries around the world are, or will soon be, shrinking in size. Full Article

In the coming decades, the countries that can maintain an at least somewhat reasonable population growth rate, and enough younger people, will likely do best. To a large extent, it’s too late for that in much of Europe and East Asia. For countries like the United States, Canada and Australia, with among the most liberal immigration policies and large landmasses, the prospects may be far better. However, we also need native-born youngsters to launch, get married and start creating the next generation of Americans.

This severity of birth decline in Europe and East Asia again points to the importance of appreciating motherhood for its contribution to both the economy and society as a whole.

Most world leaders are fixated on the unpredictable new administration in Washington in the short term, but they might do better to look at the more certain long-term impacts of diminishing populations on the world’s most important economies.

Fostering will Tax the Hardiest of Families

Adoption and the Destruction of Biological Children

Adoption and the Destruction of Biological Children

It is hard. I’ll not sugar-coat that truth. We’ve been stolen from, lied to, threatened even. We’ve shed tears, grieved, been frustrated. It’s no fairy tale. Happily ever after seems like a pipe dream on occasion.

My oldest son, adopted at 16 from Memphis and deeply immersed in affliction to this day, testifies to this fact. In fostering and adopting, you immerse yourself into the misery of the human condition.

You reach deep into the cesspool of human sin and select one, or many, to rescue from their plight…just like Christ did for you, if you are a believer.

Adoption has destroyed me. More appropriately, the Lord destroyed me, the old me, and made me a new creation in Christ. He did the same with my family, rearranging the entire order of our existence. Adoption is but a natural out-pouring of that newness.

GenderRevolution and what it Means for Education

Boys are on girls sports teams and men are on the cover of Vogue magazine.  We celebrate “Women’s Day”, but no one can define what a woman—or a man—actually is anymore.  Why are we suddenly confused about something that was obvious only recently?  And…why is my child’s school working so hard to convince them there are 56 genders and you can be any gender you want? The Life Expectancy of Middle-aged White People is Falling

In 2015, 52,000 Americans died of overdoses, four times the gun homicide rate and 50 per cent more than died in car accidents. In Rhode Island, 2 per cent of the population (20,000 people) are estimated by one epidemiologist to be opioid addicts. Full Article

the decline in US life expectancy

the decline in US life expectancy

To put the current epidemic of deaths into perspective, the Nixon White House panicked when heroin-addicted soldiers back from Vietnam brought the overdose death rate to 1.5 per 100,000 in 1973-1975. The crack epidemic of the mid to late 1980s reached a death rate of 2 per 100,000 and George H. W. Bush declared war on drugs. The current opioid death rate is 10.3 per 100,000 without the fentanyl statistics of 2016 counted yet. In New Hampshire the rate is 30 per 100,000 and in West Virginia it is over 40 per 100,000. This is a large reason why the life expectancy of middle-aged white people is falling. Why Bill Clinton said during last year’s campaign that poor white people were dying of “a broken heart” and why heroin is “a symbol of both working-class depravity and ruling-class neglect—an explosive combination in today’s political climate”.

It was not wrong for President Trump to describe the drug epidemic in his inaugural address as “carnage”. For drug companies opioids were lucrative opportunities.
