Catholics ‘Cannot Support’ Pro-abortion Candidates

DENVER, Colorado, October 5, 2016 – Catholics “in good conscience cannot support candidates who will advance abortion” and the Democratic party “platform is aggressively pro-abortion,” the Denver Archbishop Samuel Aquila wrote in a column lambasting abortion, same-sex “marriage,” and hostile attacks on religious freedom.

Describing a dinner party conversation he had with other Catholics, Aquila said he shared his “aversion for both candidates” but said Catholics “need to reflect on the platforms of both parties, with an emphasis on the human life issues.”

“This is the most important guidance I can give: allow your ongoing personal encounter with Jesus Christ and the Church to guide your political decisions,” Aquila said. “I say this because we believe that the truth about ourselves and the world we live in is revealed in and through him. Our society suffers and has suffered for quite some time because too few people live an integrated life – one that does not divide ‘the personal’ from ‘the public.’”

“The [Democratic] platform is aggressively pro-abortion, not only in funding matters, but in the appointment of only those judges who will support abortion and the repealing of the Helms Amendment, which prevents the U.S. from supporting abortion availability overseas,” he continued. “Conversely, the Republican party platform is supportive of the Hyde Amendment and just this year strengthened its support for life by calling for the defunding of Planned Parenthood, banning dismemberment abortion and opposing assisted suicide.”

It’s Extreme Hypocrisy to be Against War but not Abortion

Let’s first acknowledge that there has never been a political party in the United States that is perfectly aligned with Catholic teaching on every issue. That does not mean, however, that we are therefore automatically free to vote for either major party, because one party can be much further from Catholic principles on the most important issues than the other party. As a result of that, we are often faced with the task of discerning which party and which policies are most in line with Catholic teaching, and which ones aren’t.

Suppose a candidate for president promoted a policy that would make it legal for someone to kill a black person if that black person created a hardship for them getting the education they desired.  How many of you would be comfortable voting for that candidate?

There is a candidate, in this 2016 race for president, who along with that candidate’s political party does, in fact, sanction the killing of blacks and Hispanics in the situations previously described…under one…particular…condition:  That the black person or the Hispanic person is still in his or her mother’s womb.

Now, this candidate and party certainly won’t say it that way, not publicly anyway. Instead, they use words like “choice” or “reproductive rights” or “women’s health” or other sanitized statements in order to cover up what abortion is and what abortion does.

So let’s stop beating around the bush with regard to the current presidential race: Do you know which candidate and party in this election promotes abortion and even promises to expand its availability here at home as well as abroad?

Do you know that this candidate and party intend to make you and me pay for other people’s abortions with our tax dollars—something that has always been illegal?

Are you aware that this candidate and party, which until recently, said that abortion should be “safe, legal and rare” no longer even bothers to say that it should be rare—but rather, that it must be available any time, any place, even up to the last moment that the fully formed, full-term baby remains in the womb?

If you do not know which candidate and party I’m referring to, then you should not even consider voting until you do know! Ignorance in this area is unacceptable, because ignorance in this area costs millions of babies their lives and jeopardizes the souls of many Catholics voters.

Archbishop Eamon Martin “Protect the Right to Life”

Saturday was the Day of Life, a date the Catholic Church in Ireland sets aside to celebrate the sanctity of life.

Ireland is a battleground nation for abortion activists, backed by some of the world’s richest men. The pro-life country’s Eighth Amendment protects the right to life of unborn babies and bans abortions except when the mother’s life is in jeopardy; but abortion activists are working hard to repeal it.

Irish Archbishop Eamon Martin praised his nation for providing tender, loving protections to mothers and unborn babies on Oct. 1 in a passionate speech against abortion. The Catholic archbishop urged Irish people to counter the pro-abortion efforts with a “revolution of tenderness,” according to the Catholic News Agency. Saturday was the Day of Life, a date the Catholic Church in Ireland sets aside to celebrate the sanctity of life.

In August, Ireland’s High Court agreed. A High Court judge ruled that the word “unborn” in the Irish Constitution means an “unborn child” who has the same rights as other human beings that “must be taken seriously.”

Catholic Bishops Speak Out about Election 2016!

A tale of two Catholic candidates – looking at the 2016 vice president picks.

For example, no Catholic can vote in good conscience to expand legal protection for abortion, or to support the killing of unborn children. Abortion is a grave, unconscionable, and intolerable evil, and we cannot support it in the voting booth. Blind partisanship can be dangerous, and we have to look past political rhetoric and media alarmism to make prudent discernments.

In good conscience, some Catholics might choose to vote for a candidate who, with some degree of probability, would be most likely to do some good, and the least amount of harm, on the foundational issues: life, family, conscience rights and religious liberty.

The “social justice” tagline is part of the new multiyear “Abortion in Good Faith” campaign conducted by Catholics for Choice, a Washington-based group funded by wealthy donors and million-dollar investments that dissents from Catholic teaching on the inherent dignity of human life. The campaign made its Sept. 12 debut in 20 national and local newspapers, both in English and Spanish.

The Stark Differences Between VP Candidates

Tim Kaine claims his faith is Roman Catholic, yet he “strongly” supports abortion-on-demand.  “I’m a strong supporter of Roe v. Wade,” Kaine told CNN in July. As governor, Kaine cut off state funding for abstinence-only sex education programs, insisting that contraceptives must be taught in schools. As early as 2006, then-Governor Kaine fought against a state constitutional amendment to affirm marriage as between one man and one woman.  He supports homosexual “marriage.” He also supported legislation allowing lawsuits for “gender pay discrimination.

Mike Pence is the political polar opposite of Kaine on abortion, sex education, marriage, homosexuality, same-sex “marriage,” and ObamaCare. Pence has championed prolife legislation making it illegal to abort a baby on the basis of sex, race, nationality, or disability – including Down syndrome. He worked to pass laws which require the respectful burial or cremation of aborted babies and stop Planned Parenthood’s contracted practice of treating those babies as medical waste, or using them for experimentation. He supports defunding Planned Parenthood of tax dollars completely.

The Indiana governor also encouraged giving life by providing $1,000 adoption credit for parents.  The Indiana Right to Life (IRTL) further noted his support for mothers.

The Battle of Lepanto October 7 1571 saved Christian Civilization

The Battle of Lepanto in October 7 1571, was the greatest naval engagement until the Battle of Jutland in World War I, but it is not commemorated just as a lesson in the art of maritime war. The core of the feast is that it saved Christian civilization. Compared to it, July 4 and Waterloo and Gettysburg and D-Day are ancillary struggles to preserve what would not exist at all, had it not been for 1571. Pope St. Pius V, by divine inspiration while praying the Rosary, announced in the Church of Santa Sabina that a triumph of the Cross had been won, at the very moment the battle was won in the Gulf of Patras in western Greece, though news of it would have taken many days to reach Rome by courier. We revere the “Star Spangled Banner” whose broad stripes and bright stars gallantly streamed in 1814, but quite more remarkable was the banner held by Gianandrea Doria, great-nephew of the Admiral Andrea Doria, at Lepanto. It bore the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The Lady had appeared in Mexico forty years earlier, but reproductions of the image had made it to old Europe, and King Philip of Spain had given one to the fleet. It has been preserved in the cathedral of Genoa.

Had the battle ended differently, Sultan Selim could have fulfilled his vow to conquer Rome, turning the basilica of Saint Peter into a mosque, despoiling and upending its bells so that they might be filled with oil and burned in honor of Allah, as had been done in 997 at the tomb of Saint James in Compostela.

Is all this the dilettantish indulgence of the sort of people who watch the History Channel? We would not be here – nor would our holy religion, our universities, our science, our democracy, our enfranchised women, our justice, our social tolerance, and our entire moral fabric – were it not for Lepanto. The feast of its victory was instituted by Pope St. Pius V and, after the final defeat of the Ottomans in 1716 at Timișoara in present-day Romania, led by Prince Eugene of Savoy, Pope Clement XI made it a universal feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. Given the terrors of our present times, it would be well to pray the Rosary on October 7.

Forced out of Business for Believing In Natural Marriage, Eich is BACK

Brandon Eich was openly called a racist, Nazi, inhumane and publicly shamed because he believed in natural marriage and family.

“A tech legend for his JavaScript and Firefox contributions, Eich was betrayed by his contemporaries and forced out of business as CEO of Mozilla, the company behind Firefox, because he supported natural marriage. Full article at CatholicBusinessJournal.biz

When it was revealed in 2014 that Eich donated $1,000 to California’s Proposition 8 ballot proposal, which defined marriage as the union of one man and one woman, he was blackballed, even though Proposition 8 was supported by the majority of Californians and easily passed in 2008.

But the tenacious techie didn’t give up. Without apology, Eich continued to innovate and ultimately came up with a whole new concept in web browsers: the ad-free, tracking-free, fast internet browser Brave.” After blowing away the competition (read: Microsoft’s Internet Explorer) with the Internet browser Firefox, Eich has come up with Brave, a nearly ad-free, lightning-fast browser that eliminates intrusive ads as well as common but unwanted tracking.

With this new venture, according to Father Hodges, Eich’s efforts will speak loud and clear about how innovation and business acumen trump politics and character assassination.

They Wouldn’t Do Business With Us

FASTSIGNS franchise in Everett, WA, who our team had arranged to wrap our Northwest Pink Van, declined to service us after seeing the design!!

I have to tell you the response from students this week for our Cycle of Corruption Tour is amazing. Students who said they are pro-choice are coming up to talk to us and walking away saying they will never again support Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion vendor, ever again!

Our team is out on the road this week, hitting campuses across the nation with the truth about Planned Parenthood, their predatory business cycle, and their corrupt political dealings.

But this tour hasn’t been without controversy.

So before I get into all of the details, can you send an emergency gift of $38, $76, or $190 right now?

  • At Ohio University, an administrator for the school violated our students’ constitutional rights and told them they would be arrested for passing out our educational materials.
  • At the University of Missouri, the administration sent an email warning students to where our display was on campus and telling them to be careful around us, saying we could have graphic images that would trigger emotions. (Note: Our display doesn’t even have images of aborted babies.)
  • And yesterday, the FASTSIGNS franchise in Everett, WA, who our team had arranged to wrap our Northwest Pink Van, declined to service us after seeing the design!!

Tina, our Executive Vice President, had spoken to the owner at FASTSIGNS. We went back and forth about our deadline for the job and the details he needed for our custom pink wrap. However, as soon as we sent him the design for our wrap, he sent back an email saying that they wouldn’t do business with us. Apparently our “Planned Parenthood Betrays Women” message was too much.

This is the same state where a Christian florist was sued by a couple, as well as the state of Washington, because she respectfully declined to make flower arrangements for the same-sex wedding. In her case, the state of Washington claimed that she violated the state’s Consumer Protection Act.

Now unlike the ACLU and many on the political left, I respect the right of the FASTSIGNS owner to decline wrapping our van. However, I will be filing an official complaint with the same folks in the state of Washington who are suing the Christian florist.

In order to get our van out and on the Cycle of Corruption Tour on campuses in the Northwest, we are now going to have to fly Tina to Seattle on Monday to try to find a sign company who can do an expedited wrap on the van in time for our fall tour.

I know this last minute travel and rushed service is going to cost us at least an additional $3,000 to pull off. And that’s on top of the already $19,000 I know this Northwest Tour Van will cost.

So far, we’ve received $1,964 in tax-deductible donations for our Northwest Pink Van, so I’ve got $20,036 left to raise.

Can you send an emergency gift of $38, $76, or $190 right now?

I can’t thank you enough for all your support and prayers for our massive 26-state, 87-campus, and more than 16,000-mile fall tour. Planned Parenthood just announced they are pouring more than $30 million into election swing states for the next month. We’ve got to be there on campuses, right where they are targeting! For Life,

Kristan Hawkins President, Students for Life

Harvested Organs Come from Living Persons!

Every organ that is harvested comes from a living person. A persons organs are worth a million dollars at least and as much as $5 million.

Seven-year-old Allen Calloway may be still alive in St. Vincent’s Hospital in Billings thanks to a court order making his mother, Tasha, his guardian and giving her the power to veto a test the hospital sought to determine whether he was “brain dead.” Full Article at Lifesitenews.com

“The ruling is quite significant because it keeps decision-making with parents,” Dr. Paul Byrne of the Life Guardian Foundation told LifeSiteNews. “Further, it requires permission from parents or someone to do the harmful, cruel, potentially lethal procedure of apnea testing.”

The dispute raises the issue of “brain death,” which, according to Byrne, is a concept developed to maximize opportunities to harvest internal organs from people who are still alive but comatose.
