Such Evil must Be Defeated

Last summer, the scandal was baby body parts – Planned Parenthood trafficking in the remains of the innocent babies they had killed.
 
This summer, the scandal is another money issue.

The Zika virus is attacking unborn babies in the womb and leaving some with devastating deformations of the head and brain.  Congress is trying to pass a bill to provide 1.1 billion dollars in emergency funds to combat the virus and stop its spread. The Zika virus can be transmitted by mosquitoes or by sexual contact. Pregnant women desperately need vaccines, mosquito control, and other measures to prevent the virus’ spread.  And they need it immediately.

But Planned Parenthood is saying no.  They’re demanding the bill be killed unless some of those emergency dollars are directed to clinics affiliated with, guess who – Planned Parenthood!  But because the bill doesn’t earmark money for Planned Parenthood clinics, they asked their pro-abortion allies in the Senate Democratic caucus to block the bill by filibustering it.
 
And shamefully, the Democrats did so, killing for now the emergency funding to halt the spread of the Zika virus!  So Planned Parenthood has given us yet another scandal for the summer of 2016.

On Tuesday, Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.) gave a moving presentation on the Senate floor protesting this brazen act of power politics.  Speaking next to a photo of a baby terribly deformed by the Zika virus, he lambasted his Democratic colleagues for holding up the bill and risking such terrible damage to many more newborn babies.

The condition has no cure.  The only things that can be done are to treat the symptoms, and to stop the spread of the virus.  But Planned Parenthood and its Democratic allies are figuratively blackmailing every potential U.S. victim of this virus, saying, in effect, “you will get no protection from this threat unless your elected representatives pay off Planned Parenthood.”
 
What Planned Parenthood did last summer, and what they are doing today, are about as deeply evil as anything one could imagine.  Such evil must be defeated.  National Right to Life has been fighting to keep abortion groups from getting your tax dollars since that first became an issue after Roe v. Wade.  We will never give up that fight.
