Opening remarks by Dr. John Bruchalski
Dr. Lejeune was known for discovering the genetic cause of Down syndrome. He spent the
rest of his life defending the value of every life and working on the behalf of those affected by
Down syndrome, until his death in 1994. His work as a doctor and ethicist has long served as an
inspiration for Divine Mercy Care’s founder Dr. John Bruchalski, who is also the founder and a
current physician at Tepeyac OB/GYN, a non-profit medical practice in Fairfax, VA.
Madame Lejeune will be sharing with us the life story of her husband and their shared work caring for the most vulnerable through research, education, and advocacy.

through healthcare. Part of our mission is to inspire pro-life caregivers and medical professionals
